Even with back to work in full swing, many people adopted a remote lifestyle that has seen us increasingly confined to our personal spaces. Home living is THE theme of 2022. And the trend of turning the home into a refuge for work, rest, and recreation heavily influenced our new Fall/Winter Living Collection.
Our new hand-crafted accents subtly reflect the connection between the natural world and home living. The theme of bringing nature into the home emerged in 2020 when people began looking for ways to leverage design to transform their spaces into a refuge for peace and tranquillity. Through earthy tones, soft amorphous shapes, and stunning textures, Sömn had reinterpreted the trend into sophisticated accents like the Long Bolster Pillow - Petal, which leverages shades of gold and a decorative floral print to forge an elegant connection to the natural world.
All the cushions in our new collection include 100% Canadian-made feather inserts for beauty and comfort. True to our sustainable roots, choice raw materials like linen and cotton take the lead, and we’ve leveraged bold geometric patterns to bring richness and depth to pieces like the Long Bolster Pillow - Bamboo, which imbue the home with an earthy, organic feel through the harmonious interplay of unpretentious, nature-inspired hues.
Another big winner this season was the chic waffle weave. Almost zen-like in its simplicity, this pattern inspired the Fringed Waffle Blanket and our Waffle Toss Cushions. We launched these accessories in two colourways: light brown and navy, with square and rectangle options for the pillows. This season more than any other, we've seen a growing shift toward environmentalism. Consumers are interested in where products come from and how they're manufactured. In turn, the design industry responded with more options made from recycled and resource-friendly materials. It's just a start, but we're hoping to see this trend of conscientious consumerism continue.
